PENSACOLA, Fla. (WPMI) There's about 500 million reasons why people from Alabama are driving to Pensacola. As the jackpot rises to $500 million in the Powerball, Alabamians are willing to wait and to drive for a chance at making a fortune.
"If I win, I'll do something good, try to get a small business or whatever," said Terry Jackson.
"You know the jackpot's high, gotta get my chances in there," said Kim Williams.
The odds of getting the golden ticket are about 1 in 175 million, according to the Powerball website. But for folks making the trip to Pensacola, they're willing to take the chance. Many already making plans about what they'll do with the money, if they win.
"I'd give all my friends a million bucks, that I know like that, I'll give it away and I'll probably keep five," said Curtis James.
"I'd do lots of things, but new car, you know, go on vacation, pay off debt, invest," Williams said.
