Around 11:17 am on Tuesday April 21, Engine 257 was conducting building inspection when they began being swallowed by a sinkhole located on Rockaway Parkway and Avenue A, across from Brookdale Hospital. Firefighters worked to attempt to shore up the fire truck when it all of a sudden collapsed on to the FDNY injuring two of the members, the members where transported by EMS to a hospital. As of 1:30 Pm, units were still on scene attempting to get Engine 257 freed from the sink hole.
