This 'cliché-but-still-works' scene is an obvious homage to 2001: A Space Odyssey. Composer Justin Hurwitz enhances the delicate docking sequence and the ensuing relief with a waltz version of the theremin theme, one of the two main themes he uses in various forms throughout this score.
