Golden Harvest canning lids are typically just as reliable as Ball or Kerr lids. My understanding is that they are all made by the same company, just manufactured in different factories. I have used them for many years. However, I am noticing that MANY of the lids in a batch that I recently purchased seem to be defective and DO NOT POP. I would not recommend canning with these lids if you are noticing the same issue. Multiple lids I got in this batch do not “pop” though they appear to seal and I had one jar come unsealed with one of these defective lids. I also found one jar that appeared sealed but when I opened the contents, there was no "whooshing" sound and the contents were spoiled. This could be dangerous. Don't take any chances. I don't think it's worth the risk.
UPDDATE: I inspected the rest of the case of Golden Harvest lids I received, and there were only about eight more lids that had this same defect. I will also say that many of the boxes which are only supposed to include one dozen lids actually have 13 or 14 lids inside, which I was very happy to find. So I do not feel as badly about this purchase, but I would still caution people when buying any brand of lids, inspect them before you use them.
