This is an in-depth review/analysis of Ultima 3: Exodus for MS-DOS. It's well documented how influential this game is for the development of RPGs (JRPGs like Final Fantasy and Phantasy Star used it as a template for two decades straight), so I focused more on the actual design and structure of the game rather than its impact.
In this video I've managed to avoid pretty much all of the major spoilers for the game. Bringing up the entire Ambrosia continent, for instance, would not add anything to the critique of the overarching gameplay system and progression, but not mentioning it can preserve the surprise of its discovery for potential players. Describing the money grind seems pointless as well since it's rather obvious this time around.

Ultima III: Exodus is the third game in the series of Ultima role-playing video games. Exodus is also the name of the game's principal antagonist. It is the final installment in the "Age of Darkness" trilogy. Released in 1983, it was the first Ultima game published by Origin Systems. Originally developed for the Apple II, Exodus was eventually ported to 13 other platforms, including a NES/Famicom remake.
Ultima III was followed by Ultima IV: Quest of the Avatar in 1985.
