** I now recommend 3 ounces of clay as a minimum when making cultures. The extra ounce of clay goes a long way in stabilizing the moisture of the culture - not allowing it to dry out or become oversaturated as easily.

The important point to keep in mind is keeping the clay to water ratio at 2:1. If you do not have a scale, 2 oz of clay is equivalent to about 1/3 cup. Mixing 1/3 cup clay and 1 oz water (2 tablespoons) will work!
In a previous video, I showed how to make cultures using calcium bearing clay pellets: [ Ссылка ]
This video shows using the clay in powder form to achieve the same goal.
The pellet calcium clay was originally intended for substrate in dart frog vivaria. It works very well for springtail media but the powder form of the clay is less expensive for me to produce and I can sell it for less. You can also get by with a bit less clay per culture (about half) with the powder vs the pellets, making it even more cost effective for springtail cultures.
