Before burial, someone who is of Islamic faith washes the body an odd number of times, usually three. The deceased’s hair should be clean, and a woman’s hair is tied into three braids and tucked behind her back.
Dying looks nothing like it did in past generations. As legislation, science, and attitudes change, we need to ask ourselves what it means—and if it's possible—to end life well in the 21st century.
