Jim Lauderdale is well known to the WDVX audience and has been a friend to the station since its inception. Jim was recently in Knoxville for a show and stopped by to play for a full house at the Blue Plate Special. He is a multi-Grammy award winning singer songwriter and throughout his three-decade career, Jim has helped pave the way for the current Americana movement, recording albums and writing songs that cross genres from country, rock, folk and bluegrass. Known as a "songwriter's songwriter," his songs have been recorded by dozens of artists, notably George Strait, Gary Allan, Elvis Costello, Blake Shelton, the Dixie Chicks, Vince Gill, and Patty Loveless. In 2016, he was honored at the Americana Honors and Awards show with the WagonMaster Lifetime Achievement Award. This tune is “Lost In The Lonesome Pines” which is the title track on the 2002 collaboration album by Jim and bluegrass legend the late Dr. Ralph Stanley.
