Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease in which one’s airways become sensitive to allergens. When this happens the airways narrow, making it difficult to breathe. It is the third-ranking cause of hospitalizations for children under the age of 15. According to the Centers for Disease Control nearly 7 million children under the age of 18 have asthma, making it one of the leading, serious, chronic illnesses among children in the country.
