In this presentation, "Antifungal Resistance in Asia: Mechanisms, Epidemiology, and Consequences", Professor Yee-Chun Chen gives an overview of the burden of antifungal resistance in the region, possible mechanisms of resistance, and limitations of published data. In Asia, susceptibility varies by fungal pathogen and by country/hospital; surveillance data are needed to guide local practice.
Professor Chen is a professor of medicine at the National Taiwan University Hospital and College of Medicine in Taipei, Taiwan. She is also an investigator of the National Institute of Infectious Diseases and Vaccinology, National Health Research Institutes of Taiwan. Professor Chen also serves as vice president of the International Society for Human and Animal Mycology (ISHAM), and is a board member of the Asia Fungal Working Group (AFWG).
