No respite for Sindh students as govt sticks to summer vacation schedule
The Sindh government on Tuesday announced summer holidays for all educational institutions, both public and private, across the province, Express News reported.
According to Sindh Education and Literacy Department’s notification, the two-month break will begin on June 1 and end on July 31, with schools reopening on August 1.
The decision, the notification said, applies to all private and public schools in Sindh.
Similar to Punjab, a proposal to advance summer vacations in Sindh was under consideration due to the predicted rise in temperature across the province.
On Monday, the Punjab government announced the closure of all public and private schools for one week.

The shutdown, which aims to ensure the safety and well-being of students, will take effect from May 25 to May 31.
The decision comes as academic activities have been severely disrupted by the extreme heat, prompting some universities and colleges in the province to switch to online classes during this period.
Despite the closures, private schools have been permitted to continue their scheduled exams. The government has advised private institutions to implement necessary precautionary measures to protect students from the heat.

In Sindh and Punjab, it added, temperatures are projected to be 4 to 6 degrees Celsius above normal from May 21 to 23, and 6 to 8 degrees Celsius above normal from May 23 to 27.
