Fr. Thomas Keating offers an example of the first consent by telling the story of Brother Bernard O’Shea. Bernie’s acceptance of the goodness of life and his desire to share it led Fr. Keating to think of God’s goodness. “When someone treats you in such a way that it makes you think of God, then they are a sacrament of God.” This video is an in-depth reflection on consenting to the basic goodness of being and yet also being willing to let go when asked to do so by God.
