Benjamin Hovland, who was appointed U.S. Election Assistance Commission chairman by President Donald Trump in 2019, told the PBS NewsHour's Daniel Bush that the president’s attacks on mail-in voting are “unfortunate." He said there is “no real evidence” to support the president’s concerns about a “rigged election,” and that he has “great confidence in the system.”
