This is the 1891 Thompson Recording Wattmeter, as made by Canadian General Electric. Although this is a recording wattmeter, rather than an ampere hour meter, it still is not an induction motor, as it was designed to be used on D.C. circuits. Because it has brushes and a commutator, it is a universal type motor. That is, it will operate on A.C., as well as D.C.
