The Hercules–Corona Borealis Great Wall, also known as the Great Wall, is a massive galaxy filament that holds the title of being the largest known structure in the observable universe. This colossal superstructure spans approximately 10 billion light-years in length, making it a significant feature in our cosmos. Discovered in early November 2013 by a team of American and Hungarian astronomers led by István Horváth, Jon Hakkila, and Zsolt Bagoly, this structure was identified while analyzing data from the Swift Gamma-Ray Burst Mission and other ground-based telescopes. The Hercules–Corona Borealis Great Wall is located in the Northern Hemisphere, centered on the border of the constellations Draco and Hercules, and consists of around 19 gamma-ray bursts with redshift ranges between 1.6 and 2.1. This superstructure is believed to play a role in explaining the distribution of gamma-ray bursts due to its association with star formation processes.
