The COVID-19 pandemic has initiated a rapid transition to telemental health (TMH) for counseling professionals. This online discussion addresses critical components when transitioning to TMH for all counselors, including those in mental health settings, school settings, college settings, and beyond. This Webinar begins by focusing on the counseling relationship and the essential elements of building and maintaining a relationship in TMH settings. While TMH provides access to counseling for many clients and students, equity and access to technology is not evenly distributed in society. This session addresses the counselor’s role as both a practitioner and advocate for appropriate services. At the core of all TMH sessions are professional ethics and technology, which will be discussed specifically in relation to various counseling settings. Finally, the session provides a synopsis of reimbursement, and financial cautions for post-pandemic practice.
