A full playthrough of San Francisco Rush: The Rock - Alcatraz Edition from Midway Arcade Treasures 3. This came out in 1997 and is an expanded version of the original San Francisco Rush. This version was arcade exclusive until this collection, but the original did have some home ports. I play through all seven regular tracks, plus their mirrored versions.
This is a good game but the port lets the side down. It has a stuttering frame rate and some audio issues. The control isn't as good as the Rush 2049 port either. It feels like steering wheel controls mapped to a controller, rather than properly calibrated analog controls (all the remaining games on this compilation suffer from that). There are some good tracks though and some exciting, challenging races. It's a simple arcade set up, you just pick the track and car you want then go.
When I first started playing I could tell there was something wrong with the audio, but as this is one of the hardest games on the disc, I was much too busy trying to focus and win races to pay much attention to it. When I watched the footage back, I realised what was happening. The track selection music carries on playing during the race, over the top of the race music. It's louder than the race music and more or less drowns it out, but some parts can still be heard. It doesn't happen all the time, but most of the time when I was playing at least. There are some good races on this that were hard to win, so I'm not going to scrap this playthrough because of an audio glitch that wasn't my fault, though apologies if it's annoying. I would recommend not having the volume up too loud as it's less noticeable when it's quieter.

I'm playing the original disc on a 60GB PS3.
