Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told reporters that the first day of international talks in Geneva on Tehran's nuclear programme had been constructive.
"The other sides have welcomed Iran's seriousness in resuming talks and in our proposal. We've agreed to continue the talks," Araghchi said.
Aragchi added, however, that Iran's proposal is "classified" and "will remain so until we reach an agreement".
The Iranian government, led by new President Hassan Rohani, has stressed that it would like to see the row resolved within six months.
There is a lot of ground to cover and both sides are expecting major concessions from the other.
The West has long-suspected that Iran could be working to develop a nuclear weapon. Tehran has always denied this.
