This video shows multiple methods and tips for picking up an IFR clearance at a non-towered airport when flying in the real world. One method is asking the approach controller if the frequency will work on the ground and if not, asking for a phone number to call ATC for the clearance over the phone. Another method is by using the Chart Supplement to get a phone number for ATC, and last of all, taking off and picking up the IFR clearance in the air.

Leidos Flight Service Station can no longer be used for relaying an IFR clearance to a pilot. Medevac and air ambulance can use Flight Service Stations for IFR clearances through FSS over the telephone only.

This video is not intended to replace instruction from a qualified Flight Instructor. Other methods may be applicable to different areas. Consult Notams and the Chart Supplement.
