These are our moments traveling as a family of four through the ancient port town of Hoi An, Vietnam in central Vietnam just 45 minutes from Da Nang. Hoi An is everything postcards and dreams are made of, filled with charming streets and deep culture. This was by far the most beautiful place we visited in Vietnam, among many interesting corners.
Here are some travel ideas for you, as seen in this video:
1) Visit the Old Town/Ancient Town and see the perfectly preserved 15-19th century port town that earned this area a UNESCO world heritage honor. 02:46
2) Visit the Night Market and eat all the street food! It's open every night on Nguyen Hoang Street after sunset. Hoi An really comes to life at night (see #7 too!). 10:13
3) While eating out, be sure to enjoy regional specialties including cao lau noodle dish and an egg coffee. 11:32 and 13:11
4) Go shopping. Hoi An is famous for many crafts, including textiles, leatherwork, wood carvings, and pottery. This is your opportunity to get a custom wardrobe. 3:15
5) Get a custom piece of clothing made. Yes, Hoi An is famous for textiles, but within that industry there are also dozens of shops that will make whatever you like in any color or size. 11:16
6) Stroll along the canals. There are lots of sidewalks, bridges, and boat tours ready for you. 5:40
7) Visit on a full moon. The area has a monthly lantern festival you won't want to miss. 8:29
8) Combine #6 and #7 and see the river by moon- and lantern-light with a nighttime boat ride. 8:57
9) See a water puppet show. The water puppet art originates in Vietnam and goes back nearly one thousand years. 15:06
10) Get out of town and see the countryside. The surrounding area is filled with beautiful rice fields. 7:19
11) Head to the beach. The ocean along An Bang beach is just down the road. 7:46
12) Rent a bicycle and see it all by bike. This was by far our favorite way to get around. The city is flat and traffic is reasonable so this is a great place to learn how to explore by bike. Many hotels and Airbnbs have them for free too. 2:22
