Alta has excellent acoustics for approaching stream engines for both the whistle and the chugging, the slight echo that you get here brings out that little extra something. The location is the railroad crossing at Alta Bonnynook Road, near milepost 156.2.

This is one of the, somewhat, rare times that I have chased a train, all be it a short chase.

00:00 - Amtrak's California Zephyr number five was the opening act.
00:44 - UP4014 chugged by fairly slow because it preparing to stop less than a mile ahead at milepost 157. Also it arrived on a curve, so if you look carefully you can see the articulation. (And I'm not talking about pronunciation here.)
