The jump drills can be a great way to improve upon various aspects of physical fitness. They are a great way to not only achieve a higher jump but also simultaneously work out on speed and footwork. Different Kbands products are used in this drill and an athlete can choose to perform any ladder foot combination that he desires. In the jump drill the use of Kbands leg resistance bands can provide great range of natural motion and the movements will not remain restricted to movement of ankles only.
The set up of the jumping drill requires three speed and agility cones and an agility ladder. The speed and agility cones will give the athlete a slight push through the short jump phase. After the cones, comes the ladder and on the ladder the athlete can choose to move with high knee icky shuffle or any other ladder foot combination that he wishes to perform. The drill is begun by the athlete with intense and short jumps over the threes speed and agility cones in succession. While making this movement, it is very important to throw out the hands and this movement will help in accelerating the body. If an athlete only jumps with the tuck up movement of the knees without the correct hand movement, it will cause no improvement in the length of the vertical jump. In order to jump higher the athlete should have explosiveness in every step. The athlete goes over the speed and agility cones in three explosive tuck jumps and then moves to the ladder. Do remember, that the athlete has Kbands leg resistance band on the legs during the entire time. Once the athlete reaches the ladder, he does the high knee icky shuffle or any other movement that he wishes to do. The drill can be wrapped up by mixing three four different ladder exercises. A total of 8 sets of the entire drill including the high tuck jumps and icky shuffles should be done with the ladder drill.
