🎵I have been using flats for as a long as I can remember on my archtops. I thought it was time to try something different. I've gone for a set of Thomastik bebop/roundwound strings for my Gibson L5.
Why change?
Flats sound pretty iconic, but some people criticise them for being too dull. I get that, maybe sometimes they are too mellow? I was finding the bass strings a little dark. Also, most of my favourite players didn't use flat, so hopefully these new strings will me achieve a more old fashioned jazz tone.
