Here is the first part of my hiking trip in the stunning region of the Vosges in France.
Unfortunately I had to cut my hike short because of some serious bad weather that started to worsen on the second day. The original plan was to do a 4 or 5 day trip around the area of Col de La Slucht, but hey, you can't always have sunshine in your life.
The weather was already very cloudy and windy on the start of day 1 and also a lot of rain was pouring down from time to time. I was hoping it would get a little bit better on the second day but aside from more rain there were also thunderstorms heading my direction. It wouldn't get better for the next 3 days so I decided to call it quits on the end of day 2.
You really got to know and respect your own boundaries when it comes to personal safety (especially when hiking on sketchy/dangerous trails) and besides that; I just wasn't feeling like hiking 24/7 in rain/thunderstorms and that's okay. The rocks and boulders on the trails were also getting loose and slippery so I think I made the right call.
Despite the bumming weather I did manage to capture some shots in between the rain and the gusts of wind. You can really see my tripod and my drone (if you look close enough) putting all their effort in keeping the camera's stable but that was a big challenge. Oh well, it genuinely reflects the weather and ambience that was constantly present on this nice hike. Even this kind of weather has it's own ambience and magic that makes the hike always special.
I'm planning on finishing part 2 somewhere in the coming months, so definitely stay tuned and I hope the weather will be better.
For now, enjoy the first part of my (short) Vosges hike!
Cheers!
