We are Ireland Made® the Irish transport archive.
Our mission is to celebrate and preserve stories of Irish transport past and present for the benefit of future generations. If it has wings, wheels or it floats and there is an Irish connection, we share the story.

Following Brexit, the Irish Defence Forces realised the importance of improving their naval capabilities for shorter missions along Ireland's south and east coasts. These deployments would involve state security, fisheries protection, maritime rescue and drug interdiction.
After conducting a navy capability review it was determined that Lake-class Inshore Patrol Vessels (IPVs) would be well-suited for the relatively calm conditions of the inshore Irish Sea.

The Happy Dynamic general cargo vessel owned by Sevenstar-Exceptional Marine Transport carried the two IPVs during its month-long journey from New Zealand. Weighing 15,000 tons and measuring 157 meters in length with a beam of 26 meters, the Happy Dynamic utilised its two large 400mt cranes for the loading and unloading of the IPVs in Cork Harbour.
Following crew familiarisation and training both vessels will be officially named and commissioned into the Irish Naval Service to begin operational service in early 2024.
