Boreas is the Greek god of the north wind and the harbinger of winter. One of the four seasonal Anemoi (wind gods), Boreas is often depicted as a winged, bearded man draped in a billowing cloak, symbolizing the cold and harsh nature of the northern wind. He is the son of the Titan Astraeus and Eos, the goddess of the dawn.

Boreas is known for his powerful and tempestuous character, capable of bringing icy storms and frigid weather. He was believed to reside in Thrace, from where he would sweep down to Greece. In mythology, Boreas kidnapped Orithyia, an Athenian princess, and made her his wife, fathering the Boreads, Zetes and Calais.

Boreas' influence extends to literature and art, symbolizing the fierce and uncontrollable forces of nature, and reminding the Greeks of the changing seasons and the power of the natural world.
