I attended the Character Animation Summer School at the Gobelins L’Ecole de L’Image in the Summer 2018. The animation assignment was focused on Character Animation. Here the program:
• choose a character between Rock-a-Doodle's "Edmond", Looney Tunes' "Daffy Duck", One Piece's "Luffy" and a "Roman Centurion" from Asterix & Obelix - I choose Daffy Duck
• choose you animation technique: "old school" paper, digital 2D with TVPaint, digital 3D with Maya
• animate the character into a scene (doing everything you want - at least, 6 seconds - teachers provided us a still image of a museum )
• after one week you need to have the definitive animation blocking
• after two weeks you have to provide the full 8 seconds long animation
During my journey at Gobelins I had so much fun and I learned a lot about animation! What you see here is my "first" approach to animation into a specific pipeline.
What I've listed above is just a small part of the program. There are animations rules that you have to follow, keep your character consistent into the in-betweens and so many other things to make a great 2d animation. For me, most important is to have FUN! What do you think?
