The 14th annual Jeonju International Film Festival will be kicking off this week with more than 170 films from 46 countries being showcased.
For a sneak peak of some of the most talked about movies set to hit the big screen, Hwang Jihye reports. Jeonju City will be hosting its iconic film festival starting on April 25th, with Paul Thomas Anderson's "The Master" selected for the World Cinemascape category.
The American drama stars Joaquin Phoenix as a World War II veteran who drifts through life until he meets a charismatic spirtual leader, played by Philip Seymour Hoffman.
Anderson wrote, directed and co-produced the blockbuster, which aims to set the tone for the festival. 
Michael Winterbottom's "Everyday" will be making its Asia premiere, with actress Shirley Henderson playing a wife struggling to deal with her husband's imprisonment.
The documentary-style film follows the life of a family over five long years as they deal with the reality of a father serving time in jail.
Event organizers believe the Jeonju festival is the perfect venue for the British director.

"Since Michael Winterbottom's filmography is very unique, the Jeonju International Film Festival will be able to provide an opportunity to focus on his particular style of cinema."

Highly recommended works include the French films "Camille Claudel" and "Cherhez Hotense," the Italian film "Historias do Cinema," the Chinese film "The Narcissus Flower Of Katsura-Shim," and the world premiere of the U.S. film "Coming To Terms."

This year the Jeonju Film Festival will host a special category titled "Beyond Bollywood" which celebrates the diversity of Indian cinema, with Hansal Mehta's "Shahid" being one of the three featured Hindi films.

"This movie will let you closely experience India from its traditional clothes to its food. Those who travel will enjoy this movie for its unique locations."

The Jeonju International Film Festival will run for nine days until May 3rd and feature a wide-range of digital, independent and art cinema.
