Today’s video covers a wrist extension mobilization that can help alleviate pain and improved range of motion. Pain on the backside of the wrist is common when the wrist is loaded into extension, such as during push-ups or handstands.
One technique that can help reduce this type of pain and restore full joint mobility is an anterior glide of the proximal carpal row. This mobilization essentially pushes the first row of carpal bones toward the palm, which is the direction they must glide in order to achieve full wrist extension range of motion.
If you are suffering from this pain, find someone who is skilled in manual therapy and see if they can mobilize your wrist. Once your range of motion is better, then you would want to incorporate active mobility and strength exercises.
