Titles read: "PREMIER IN THE MIDDLE EAST".
Middle East.
A Lockheed Hudson aeroplane arrives at a desert aerodrome. Prime Minister Winston Churchill gets out. He is in civvies and travels under the false name of Mr Bullfinch (according to commentator). General Sir Claude Auchinleck greets him. Churchill chats with men of a Royal Artillery gun crew in the desert at El Alamein. A group of Australian soldiers salute as Churchill goes by.
At a desert base landing ground, the High Commissioner for Egypt, Sir Miles Lampson, awaits Churchill's arrival with Sir Alexander Cadougan and General Wavell. Churchill, now wearing RAF uniform (Air Commodore), arrives in the giant Liberator 'Commando' and is greeted by the men.
Now in civvies Churchill attends a lunch in a tented Officers Mess in the desert and we see some intimate pictures of him during the lunch (he looks like he is enjoying that drink and appears slightly sozzled!). On leaving the Mess some soldiers cheer him before he is driven off.
In Cairo we see Churchill, wearing a siren suit and sombrero hat posing with Sir Miles Lampson and his baby son, also General J Smuts, Prime Minister of South Africa. C/U of Churchill holding the Lampson baby.
Several shots of the group posing in the Embassy Gardens in Cairo. They are Churchill, Auchinleck, Smuts, Wavell, General Alan Brooke, Mr Casey, Rear Admiral Sir Henry Harwood and Air Chief Marshal Tedder. C/U of Churchill without hat or cigar.
Note: for search purposes: Sir Miles Lampson, Lord Killearn Lampson.
