Cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains the leading cause of death and premature death globally, with about 60% of CVD deaths in the world occur in Asia. As the continent with the largest population and greatest diversity of ethnicities, cultures, socioeconomic status, and health care systems, Asia faces many specific challenges in CVD prevention and treatment. Central to the efforts to reduce CVD in Asia is understanding the current epidemiological features of CVD and the implications of these features on the development of reasonable policies, strategies, and actions for CVD prevention in different Asian countries. For the JACC: Asia October Journal Club, Editor-in-Chief Jian’an Wang MD, PhD, FACC hosted top-tier experts from the fields of CVD epidemiology and preventive cardiology in a discussion on this topic. The experts provided their perspectives, advice and high vision for CVD prevention strategy in Asian countries over the next ten years. JACC: Asia is the JACC Family of Journals’ first region-specific journal focusing on key issues of CVD in Asian countries and Asian population. The Journal aims to serve as a communication and education platform for cardiologists, physicians and health workers in Asia.
