Maryam Rahmanian is the Vice Chair of the Steering Committee of the High Level Panel of Experts for Food Security and Nutrition of the Committee on World Food Security.
Ms Rahmanian highlights that a holistic view as taken by the Commission is missing in the world day. She stresses that we have divided up nature and the whole world into separate things and this is a false way of looking at the world, as in fact they are not separate and are affected by the interconnections between them.
Ms Rahmanian further talks about the vital role of genetic resources for food and agriculture, the multilateral space required for policy decisions and the inclusion of those whose lives depend on those resources and who have spend all of their creativity and energy in the past thousands of years to create them, to nurture them.
