This is the original titles (though unfortunately missing the RKO logo) to the 1952 Disney short The Little House, scanned from a 16mm Eastman LPP print dated 1986. The reissue version we commonly see today has some rather unattractive edits: after the original Walt Disney Presents title, there’s a simple cut to remade credits whose design doesn’t match the first title very well. All the names and their order are exactly the same, so the only reason behind this must have been to avoid cropping if shown in widescreen or on TV. The biggest difference, however, is the ending. Instead of smoothly zooming out until the picture frame on the wall is revealed, the camera movement in the new version stops a couple of times; then as “The End” appears, the image is cropped so tight that we don’t see the frame at all. Very strange – and I have no idea why they did that.
