As Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk issues a stark warning that Europe is now in a "pre-war era," Ali Miraj and defence commentator, Hamish De Bretton-Gordon, ponder whether his words have substance or if he's simply 'warmongering.'
Speaking to European media, Tusk said: "I don't want to scare anyone, but war is no longer a concept from the past. It's real and it started over two years ago."
His words coincide with a recent onslaught of Russian missiles directed at Ukraine.
In conversation with Ali, De Bretton-Gordon emphasises: "He recognises strength and he he will go at weakness. And at the moment, he just sees weakness in Europe.
"We probably have a year or two at the very most to make sure that we have a military that will hold Putin where he is now rather than have to fight him in the streets and valleys of Europe as we did the previous dictator."
