No German shopping street is blessed with a charisma like the King's Avenue (original name: Königsallee) in Düsseldorf. The approxemately one kilometer long Königsallee is both a splendig mile and an international trademark for Düsseldorf.
The shops of the major international designers brands line up like pearls on a string, exclusive malls alternate with luxury jewelers, perfumeries and cafes. Names like Chanel, Armani, Kenzo and Gucci at least invite to stand at the shop windows.
In the middle of the boulevard is the "Kö-Graben", a canal of the Düssel, the river, that gave Düsseldorf its name. The banks of the Düssel are shaded by large chestnut- and plane trees and invite you to linger.
The city's most exclusive hotels are located directly at the Königsallee: The Steigenberger Parkhotel, the Breidenbacher Hof and the InterContinental.
I was here on a Saturday at about two o'clock on a sunny autumn day. Hope you enjoy the walk on this amazing luxury mile.
