Freedman's Cemetery, located in Dallas, Texas, has been around since the foundation of the community of Freedman's Town at the end of the Civil War. Some of the bodies buried here are actually Civil War soldiers.
The bodies were later moved and a memorial was constructed in the early 1990s to commemorate the town this cemetery used to serve. That town is now gone, replace by the highly gentrified Uptown Dallas area.
