80's Amsterdam was wild
This video is a combination of two events in a broader movement of squatters in the Netherlands, during the 1980s. There was unemployment among the youth and a shortage of houses (uh-oh) which led to some pretty big riots and squatter events.
The video is compiled of the Coronation riots which took place on April 30th in Amsterdam, while the accession of Queen Beatrix was taking place. The other event are the Vondelstraat riots, where a group of squatters barricaded an entire street. The army had to step in to support the riotpolice. The Vondelstraat riots took place a month before the Coronation riots.
