Some Pictures a video of my JD in progress
My John Deere Model A, 1941 -- 1947, The tag was removed before I got the tractor. My dad and I Started working on this in 1999, 9 years ago when I was in high school, and then stopped and has sat around till now. Now that I'm out of college I started panting it and piecing it back together and wanted to do a test run on it. When I got it, it was blowing water into the oil. We weren't sure if we fixed the leak by replacing all the gaskets and led washers so I wanted to check everything before I continued working. While it was originally worked on we replaced all the seals on the rear end also. Just to make sure everything was working at this point, before it was harder to take back apart I rigged up a gas tank, put in the fluids, only enough water to fill the block I have to get an upper water pipe yet, and it up.
I have been trying to figure out what year it is. It's an extended hood slant dash which gives me the 1941 -- 1947 range. Cast frame, cast wheels. One odd thing, most of these years the crank case breather on the right side of the tractor has the breather part itself as the cover for the casting where you would dump the oil in and the screen is. This one (part of the casting) goes to the side and under the extended hood and has a breather tube offset. Anyone have any ideas on years it could be?
