CLARK COUNTY -- It's fair time in Clark County. That means food, games, and of course the animals! Although the fair can be lots of fun, it can also bring some dangers, mainly the weather.
We talked with the Public Relations Coordinator with the Clark County Fair, Dara Ferryman, and she said the weather during the fair is always crazy. "It wouldn't be fair time without a little rain," said Dara. However, this time of year it's not only the rain we have to worry about, it's also storms.
Not to worry though, the Fair coordinators have a plan in place. They work closely with the Clark County Emergency Management Team. They are in direct contact with the National Weather Service at all times. If it looks like anything dangerous is heading toward the fair, the Emergency Managers will call the fair and they will spring into action. They will call over the PA system what is happening and where fair-goers need to go.
The fairgrounds have several permanent concrete buildings. If there is a need to take shelter, that is where they would call people to go. No matter what the weather brings through the fair, it's always good to be prepared. As Dara said "You have to be prepared when it's Ohio and fair time!"
