Aaron: Hey guys, it's Aaron.
Kristina: And I'm Kristina.
Aaron: We are professional dance instructors coming at you today from New York City, and today we're going to be talking a little bit more about some advanced moves in our swing. So today what we're going to be talking about is what we like to call the toe heel swivels. Now for starters, we're going to be using a modified two-hand hold. Gentlemen what we're used to bringing the lady's hands down around our waist level is placing our thumb on top where it's comfortable for us both and easy to send the lady backward or bring her back forward.
Now in modifying this, what we're going to be doing is taking a palm to palm hold in this modified two-hand position. And what we're going to be doing is we're going to be leading the lady, and as we rock back, rock step, leading the lady inside to turn. And point our toe, then releasing that outward heel, and crossing over in a counter promenade position. And from here, repeating toe, heel, crossing in front. Toe, heel, swivel. Toe, heel, swivel. Toe, heel, swivel. Toe, heel, swivel. And rock step.
Now as we know this music in our swing tends to be a little more upbeat and a little faster tempo, so let's take a look at that a little bit faster one more time. And, one, two, toe, heel, swivel. Toe, heel, swivel. Toe, heel, swivel. Toe, heel, swivel. And rock step.
Kristina: Don't feel frustrated if you try it out and it doesn't really work in terms of leading and following. There's a lot of really intricate things that are happening with the lead and the shaping of our bodies and pressure and all of that. So this is a really good move if you have a partner or if you're going to be doing a performance and it's something that you can kind of practice with your partner, and you guys kind of know where in the routine it's going to fall. It's a really fun and flashy move, but it's a little trickier to just lead and follow.
Aaron: Absolutely. Now let's try that to some music.
