If you’re a knuckle-cracker, you’ve probably heard the claim that it can lead to arthritis. To look into it, we turned to The Arthritis Foundation, Houston Methodist Hospital, Harvard Health, The Cleveland Clinic and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
QUESTION: Does cracking your knuckles lead to arthritis?
ANSWER: No, it does not. Decades of studies have found no evidence that knuckle-cracking will cause arthritis. Studies haven’t found any evidence that knuckle-cracking is beneficial, either.The practice just doesn’t impact the development of arthritis.
