It's not often we hear repeaters on any other modes than FM, but here we have an A.M (Amplitude Modulation) simplex repeater coming from New Plymouth, New Zealand. (distance 5,170km) It's been heard strong on the east coast of Australia, but here in the north of Australia, it has not been received very strong at this time. I am told the repeater is in New Plymouth and runs about 80 watts, but i don't know what radio and antenna it's using yet? The roger beep on it sounds like most other Simplex Repeater controllers, so maybe it's a surecom sr-112 or one of its clones?
