Liverpool target Teun Koopmeiners indicates his readiness to endure adverse weather conditions in pursuit of a move to the Premier League this summer. The 26-year-old midfielder, who has been with Atalanta since 2021, has enjoyed a remarkable season, contributing ten goals and three assists in Serie A. He stands out as one of only two midfielders across Europe's top five leagues to have achieved double figures in goals over the past two seasons, the other being Manchester City's Phil Foden.
Koopmeiners has attracted interest from various top clubs, including long-standing admirers Juventus, who may return with an offer at the end of the season following initial interest last year. Reports from Italy suggest that Liverpool have already signaled their willingness to secure his signature after failing to do so last summer.
Speculations indicate that a bid in the region of £50 million would be sufficient to facilitate the departure of the Dutch international. In a recent interview with Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, Koopmeiners acknowledged the interest from clubs and revealed his desire to move on in the summer, though he emphasized the need for an appealing offer to persuade him to leave Atalanta.
He stated, "My fiancée and I are enjoying our time in Italy, but for certain clubs in England, I could even tolerate the rainy days there. I hope opportunities arise for me to consider, and I trust Atalanta will receive a fair amount for my transfer, as I've had a fantastic time in Bergamo. It wouldn't be truthful if I said I wasn't aware of the interest from Juventus and other Premier League clubs."
Earlier, Koopmeiners expressed his appreciation for Liverpool's interest, affirming his commitment to Atalanta. Whether Liverpool will renew their pursuit of the midfielder this year remains to be seen, with the decision likely resting with new sporting director Richard Hughes and CEO Michael Edwards, in consultation with the incoming manager.
So far this season, Koopmeiners has amassed 12 goals and four assists in 34 appearances across all competitions. He is contracted to Atalanta until 2025.
