Police guidance states that young children found in possession of illegal items after a stop and search “should be considered as an exploited victim rather than an offender.”
However, the law only gives Police Constables the right to stop and search anyone only if there is reasonable suspicion that a crime has been committed.
Randomly picking on children, as has been happening in the Hillside area recently, without any reasonable suspicion or intelligence of a crime is basically unlawful and is downright bullying, which is unacceptable.
This was 6pm in the evening, the young child in this video did not have any illegal items on him and therefore any "suspicion" this officer may have thought he had, was wrong.
The Police need to apologise to this child and to all the others they have randomly stopped this week for no good reason.
Well done to the child who filmed this. That is why WE ALWAYS FILM THE POLICE.
