Thank you for watching. Please leave any other tips and suggestions in the comments. Here is a summary of the information covered in this video:
Earmolds
- Clean every week with washing up liquid and water to prevent discolouration.
- Use baby wipes or a damp cloth to clean the earmold every day.
Feedback
- Custom earmolds prevent feedback more than domes.
- If your moulds are too loose your audiologist can coat them for you.
- Softer earmolds have helped the whistling for me.
- If you’re struggling with a lot of feedback it could be due to the programming on your hearing aids.
Changing the tubes
- Change the tubes as soon as they start getting less flexible. Don’t wait for them to become completely solid.
- Learn to change the tubes yourself.
Batteries
- Always keep spare batteries with you everywhere you go.
- Take the sticker off your battery for 5 mins before putting it into your hearing aid.
- Spend more on high-quality batteries
Features and connectivity
- Learn how to use the different features of your hearing aids
- Find out if you could get a radio aid or external microphone.
- Take the time to practice using the technology at home before trying it in public
Advocating for your hearing loss
-I recommend trying to learn to be comfortable with people seeing your hearing aids.
-Don’t try to hide your hearing loss
