I have to wonder whether the Maryland State Police managed to gather and bag any evidence from the half-burned car in which Sheree Magaro was killed or fatally injured. This was 1987, the year in which DNA was first used to solve crimes. If there is DNA evidence which can be used, might it not make sense to check it against the DNA of known serial killer Steven Brian Pennell, who claimed most of his victims roughly twenty miles away. I think the fact that this occurred over state lines (Pennell operated in Delaware) and before we had good computer systems linking cases across state lines might be the reason (seemingly) nobody ever suggested Pennell (arrested ten months later) as the possible perpetrator in Sheree Magaro's murder/disappearance.
