Since the early days of cell culture, microscopy, histology and other end-point measurement techniques have provided great insight into cell structure and morphology. These measurements, however, provide information at single time-points rather than processes and cellular behavior.
Using traditional visualization methods, cellular processes can only be captured by growing different cultures for ever-increasing periods of time before sacrificing them. Such methods are tedious and time-consuming. As such live-cell imaging has become a desired analytical tool for cell biology laboratories. The CytoSMART Lux is a compact inverted microscope for bright-field live-cell imaging that can be used in routine cell culture processes. The device can be used to make time-lapse videos of the cell cultures and can be placed inside any standard cell culture incubator. This allows users to monitor cell proliferation, motility, and morphology over the entire culture period.
