UNSW Chemical Engineering is proud of the achievements of its current and past female engineering students and academic staff. We are determined to foster a supportive learning and research environment to encourage more females to consider the School of Chemical Engineering as a place to begin their tertiary education.
UNSW Chemical Engineering currently has three female full-time professors employed by the School, the highest number of any chemical engineering school in Australia.
In 2014 Scientia Professor Rose Amal was the first female engineer to be elected as a Fellow into the Australian Academy of Science. She was elected for her outstanding contributions to photocatalysis and leadership in harnessing solar energy to purify water and generate hydrogen.
