On Sunday, 7th July, crowds gathered to pay their respects to Leeds Rhinos legend and MND campaigner, Rob Burrow.
Burrow's funeral took place on a day holding special significance: 7th July, known as Rob Burrow Day—an annual event held by Leeds Rhinos since 2021, in honour of the number seven shirt he wore throughout his career.
The funeral, a private affair held at the Pontefract Crematorium in West Yorkshire, saw hundreds standing by the roadside to pay tribute.
Tears flowed as the hearse carrying his coffin passed by, with mourners applauding and some throwing yellow and white flowers onto the windscreen.
Among those gathered at the crematorium was Burrow’s best friend and fellow MND campaigner, Kevin Sinfield with his wife, Burrow's family and among others.
Rob Burrow CBE passed away on 2nd June 2024, after a four-and-a-half-year battle with motor neurone disease (MND).
