A group of Chinese scientists have drawn new conclusions from a fossil that suggests the high Qinghai-Tibet Plateau did not exist until the Paleogene Era, which dates back to more than 20 million years ago, challenging prevailing views on tectonic processes and the evolution of Asian biodiversity. The research paper was published by the Science Advances journal.
